I Ain't Gonna Sing no Company Song
Well, I got me a job in a factory
For a brand new auto company.
The work’s okay but there’s one thing wrong,
They start each day with the company song.
‘Round six in the mornin, ‘fore they start the line
The foreman comes around and he says “It’s time!”
Then they all join hands and they sing along,
Beltin’ out this damned fool company song.
Well, I ain’t gonna sing no company song, I ain’t gonna sing no company song.
Don’t try to get me to sing along, ‘cause I ain’t gonna sing no company song.
I work good and hard eight hours a day.
I do my job well and I earn my pay.
I’ll bust my butt for them all day long,
But I’ll be damned if I’ll sing their song.
I ain’t gonna sing no company song. I ain’t gonna sing no company song.
I may be right and I may be wrong, but I ain’t gonna sing no company song.
I’m a union member and I’m proud to be.
“Solidarity Forever” is the song for me.
You don’t have to ask me which side I’m on,
‘Cause I ain’t gonna sing no company song.
I ain’t gonna sing no company song. I ain’t gonna sing no company song.
You can scream and holler, you can egg me on, but I ain’t gonna sing no company song.
You can do what you like at the start of day,
But I’m raisin’ my voice in a different way—
Gonna work for the union, gonna make it strong,
And I’ll teach my fellow workers a union song.
I ain’t gonna sing no company song. I ain’t gonna sing no company song.
You can call me stubborn or plain headstrong, but I ain’t gonna sing no company song.
I ain’t gonna sing no company song. I ain’t gonna sing no company song.
Don’t try to get me to sing along, ‘cause I ain’t gonna sing no company son-on-on-ong. Solidarity forever, for the union makes us strong!
